What changes will we implement?

Now in Google Sheets you can perform the following actions:

  • Review comments and conversations in a sidebar.
  • Apply filters to find the most relevant comments to get your work done when there is a high degree of collaboration in a document.
  • Navigate through pages of overlapping comments in a document.
Spreadsheet Feedback Sidebar

Use the new Feedback Sidebar to view all conversations held in a spreadsheet calculation. Respond, resolve or create new conversations quickly in collaboration with your colleagues.

For highly collaborative spreadsheets, apply filters in the sidebar to find the most relevant comments (for example, the conversations you should reply to).

Why use it?

Collaboration with teammates is more important than ever, and comments are an effective way to discuss and collaborate wherever you and your colleagues are, and whenever you are working. By making it easy to review, respond, and resolve comments in Sheets, you simplify collaboration to create data and analysis with greater impact.

Additional details

With these changes, you now have an easy way to view and navigate all comments in a spreadsheet by clicking the following items:

  • The comments icon in the application bar.
  • The “open all comments” item in the sheet tab.
  • The “open” element in any comment pinned to a cell.
  • A new button in the comments overlay that allows you to navigate between comment pages in a document.

How to start?

  • Administrators: There is no administrator control for this feature.
  • End users: This feature will be activated for all users.

Throwing rhythm

  • Rapid Release Domains: Gradual release (up to 15 days for visibility of the function) starting June 2, 2021.
  • Scheduled release domains: Extended release (possibly more than 15 days for feature visibility) starting June 16, 2021.

Availability

  • Available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers.
