Summary
You can now search content in Google Chat faster by editing your search results with interactive mobile filters. These filters help you find artifacts such as files and links more easily.
You can search by a keyword you remember from a message or use a filter to search all files in a specific chat. Additionally, we also updated the visual interface to provide a more balanced view of search results. Now the results will also include the content of the messages, making it even easier to find the exact content you are looking for.

These features are now available on Android. They will be available on iOS and the web at the end of July 2021.
How to get started
- Administrators: There is no administrator control for this feature.
- End Users: There is no configuration setting for end users for this feature. When searching in Google Chat for mobile, you can refine your results with the filter chips below the search box.
Throwing rhythm
- Rapid and Scheduled Release Domains: Extended release (possibly more than 15 days) starting 21 June 2021. We expect these features to be fully available on iOS and the web by the end of June 2021.
Availability
- Available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers
