Respond quickly with split panel in Google Chat

Following the recent announcement of summaries on the Google Chat home page and other features that help you find what you need much faster using the home page, we’re excited to introduce the split pane in the home page view.

With this new update, you can now reply directly to a space, group, or direct message without leaving the home screen in Google Chat.

To reply in this view, simply click on a message and the split pane will open with the conversation. You can click the expand icon in the conversation header if you want to view that particular conversation in full screen. You can also toggle split pane mode in the home header if you want to enable or disable conversations opening in the split pane entirely.

This new feature gives you the flexibility you need to customize your Google Workspace experience. Adapt the split pane to your work style and choose how you want to interact with your conversations. Whether you prefer an overview or a complete immersion in a particular conversation, the split pane gives you complete control.

This Google Chat update is available to all Google Workspace customers and individual Google Workspace subscribers.
