Google Workspace continues to innovate, now bringing third-party smart chips to Google Sheets, so you can streamline your workflow and increase your productivity like never before.
If you’re already familiar with Google’s smart tokens, you’ll know how useful they are for accessing information from other Workspace tools like Calendar or Drive without leaving your document. Now, this functionality extends to a universe of third-party apps, allowing you to integrate data from platforms like Asana, Jira, Confluence, Canva, Lucid, Loom, Whimsical, and Zoho Projects directly into your spreadsheets. Users can also paste third-party smart tokens inserted in Docs directly into a spreadsheet.
How do they work?
To access third-party smart chips, an administrator or user must first install a partner’s add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace. After that, simply paste a link from the third-party source into your spreadsheet and click “tab.” You’ll then see a smart chip in your spreadsheet that previews critical information from the app, right in your workflow. This will allow you to centralize information, streamline collaboration, and make more informed decisions.
